Hello. I wanted to make something bright and cheerful today and this new stamp set and a paper pad from the clearance section of Hobby Lobby provided just what I needed. I tend to make a lot of birthday cards because that is what I need most.
I used lots of layers on this one. I trimmed down the patterned paper and mounted it to an A2 piece of orange card stock. I then cut a white panel for the cake image and stamped it using Gina K Amalgam ink. I mounted that on a slightly bigger piece of orange card stock.
I found this pom pom trim at Hobby Lobby also. I just sewed a piece onto my image panel before coloring just in case my sewing machine ate the card stock.
I colored the cake using Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. I have a swatch sheet, so I just held the patterned paper next to the swatches to pick the right pencils.
Colors used: PC923-red cheeks & candle, PC915-halo around flame, PC916-yellow on cake & candles, PC921-orange on cake & candles, PC1027-cake stand & candles, PC1051-shadow at base of cake.
I often want to pop something up just a bit, so instead of foam tape, I will cut a piece or two of card stock and place it behind what I want to pop up.
Supplies used:
Prismacolor pencils
Gamsol
Happy Birthday to You-stamp set
